For those who are going to rent a car while in Canada they will be most pleased to discover that there are several well known and established brands to choose from. The following is an example of just a few of these.
Budget
Budget is an American based car rental service that was founded in 1958. It has several franchises in Canada. All of which carry the credibility of the brand itself. The name was carefully chosen as its founders wanted to instil that the car rentals being offered by the company were for the budget conscious individuals.
Hertz
Hertz goes way back in history to 1918. At the time a young entrepreneur saw the value in car renting. Starting out with the rental of just 12 Model T’s was the beginning of this company. The business was eventually sold in 1923 to John D. Hertz. This company was a success from the beginning with a reported income of around one million in 1925.
Avis
Avis has a long and interesting history as a car rental business. It began in 1946 in Detroit when started by Warren Avis. Less than ten years later the car rental had a presence in Canada as well as Europe and Mexico. Throughout the year it has changed hands several times. It is also known for many “firsts.” It implemented an Owner Stock Ownership Plan. Avis is widely recognized for its employee and customer loyalty.
National
National is a car rental agency that is owned by a group of other car rental companies like Alamo Rent a Car. The business came about as 24 independent car rental agents banded together to form the company. National has many locations throughout Canada and touts low rates with excellent customer service.
Advantage Car and Truck Rental
This car and truck rental company don’t have as long a history as several of the others. They were founded in 1984. They began with one location in Scarborough and since then have opened several others across the GTA.
While these are the most impressive car rental companies, several others offer the same type of services. They all have much in common, but they each strive to have a unique selling proposition to set them apart from the crowd.
Some will attempt to offer lower rates. Others will focus on a more extensive selection of vehicles for rental. It basically will come down to personal consumer preference when choosing to do business with one of these companies.
It is always worth taking time out to choose a car rental company wisely. Once you have enjoyed a pleasant experience with one, you will have less work finding an appropriate one in the future.
